Building Blocks in Home Services Training - Red Deer

The Building Blocks training explores the concepts and information required by the in-home visitation service, which can be embedded into existing programs or delivered as a stand-alone program for organizations.

Building Blocks facilitators bring the training and concepts to life by using an active learning approach based on current brain research.

This approach focuses on: • Relating the subject matter so that it is relevant to participants • Engaging participants in high levels of thinking, such as analyzing, critiquing, and assessing • Using a variety of training approaches, such as small group processes, lectures, and experiential activities • Meeting the participants’ needs by remaining flexible • Providing ways of linking familiar and new information • Interacting and reinforcing information throughout the workshop

Goals of the training The overall goal of the training outlined in this manual is to equip facilitators with the skills they will need to implement the in-home Building Blocks program.
